The first quarter of the school year has been an excellent start across Homewood City Schools. Our students are learning and growing, our teachers and staff are leading with great care and dedication, and our schools continue to reflect the values that make Homewood such a strong and connected community.

As we look ahead, many events and activities highlight the talents and efforts of our students. I encourage you to take part and stay engaged in the life of our schools.

Homewood Schools Ranked Best School District in AL

We are thrilled to announce that Homewood City Schools received a top-tier designation and an A+ Grade in the 2026 Niche school rankings.

The Niche rankings provide a comprehensive evaluation of schools and districts nationwide. They combine statistical data with authentic reviews from students and parents across the community, offering a complete picture of the student experience.

Homewood City Schools received a number one ranking in three categories:

#1 Best School District in Alabama
#1 Best Places to Teach in Alabama
#1 District with the Best Teachers in Alabama

We are proud of our dedicated faculty and staff, our students, and our entire community who continue to pursue excellence in our schools and throughout the district!

Family Support Resources

In Homewood, we are thankful to work with community groups that support our students and families. In the current economy, it can be hard to make ends meet. Homewood Helps is one of our partners who gives support all year long. Click here to learn more about ways to get help or give help to others through Homewood Helps.

Families seeking help during the holidays can apply for Christmas gifts through organizations like Toys for Tots or Grace Klein Ministries. Parents and guardians may also contact their children’s school counselor for information regarding assistance with Thanksgiving meals or Christmas gifts.

Nominate a Teacher for the 2026 HCSF Teacher Impact Award

The Homewood City Schools Foundation is excited to announce nominations are open for the 2026 Teacher Impact Award, recognizing the wonderful educators in our school system!

HCSF encourages students, parents, fellow educators, and administrators to submit a nomination for a teacher who has made a significant difference in someone's life.

One exceptional teacher will be selected from each Homewood school and honored at the Homewood Grown event this spring.

Student Flu Vaccine Clinic 2025

The flu vaccine clinics at Homewood City Schools will be held the week of November 3rd-7th. If you are interested in having your child receive the flu vaccine at the school clinic you are required to do the following:

Print and complete the Student Influenza Vaccine Registration and Consent Form.
Sign the Student Influenza Vaccine Registration and Consent Form – Your child cannot be vaccinated without your signature.
Provide a copy of your child’s insurance or Medicaid card (front and back), or indicate if your child does not have insurance coverage.
Return both the completed form and insurance copies to the school nurse.

ALL FORMS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THURSDAY OCTOBER 23rd.
