Homewood High School will be administering the

Identify skill areas and career interests

Use results to help you prepare for your future

WHAT is it?

  • The ASVAB, or Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery
  • Series of eight short tests that help students identify skills in a variety of areas including general science, arithmetic reasoning, word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, mathematics knowledge, electronics information, auto & shop information, and mechanical comprehension.
  • Military representatives will be present to administer the test.  Students will have the option to disclose their contact information and results to a military branch.  Students do not have to release their scores or contact information to the military.

WHY take it?

  • Taking the test can help students regardless of their plans after high school because it measures aptitudes related to success in different jobs as well as training & education programs.
  • Scores will highlight current strengths in verbal, math, and science/technical skills.  Knowing academic strengths and weaknesses gives students time to work to improve specific areas before starting a job, beginning college or vocational school, or entering the military.
  • Results will show students how their skills relate to the occupations that are of most interest to them.  The ASVAB test provides students with career exploration scores, which can help them determine their readiness for further education and training in different career areas.

WHEN is it?

  • Monday, February 19, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
